Church Case Studies, Streaming Case Studies
BoxCast Team • 2/17/26 1:59 PM
See how one systems engineer uses BoxCast to run five weekly streams, cut down on post-production, and keep his focus where it matters, without a full-time video staff.
Balancing Live Streaming with Everything Else
“We don’t have a dedicated video person, so I just have to streamline things. For a long time it was just me doing all of the graphics, IT, and production.” —Jeff Amato, Technology Systems Engineer
Mosaic Church has been live streaming longer than most – starting with QuickTime and direct unicasts, moving to Ustream, then Stream Monkey. Jeff Amato, who’s been with the church for over two decades, has experienced it all.
But streaming is just one of many hats he wears. Jeff also oversees all technical infrastructure, supports Sunday worship, fills in for production roles, and manages IT needs across the church.
And while Mosaic takes streaming seriously, it’s not their main focus. The church sees it as a supplement – not a substitute – for in-person gathering.
“Streaming isn’t a primary focus of the ministry. It’s more of a piece to stay connected.”
So in 2020, when BoxCast acquired Stream Monkey, Jeff needed streaming to work seamlessly in the background – without pulling him away from everything else on his plate as his role continued to evolve and expand.

A Reliable Streaming Solution that Works Quietly in the Background
“The interface in BoxCast is pretty straightforward. It makes life easier not having to think too hard about it. Other providers call me all the time, but in terms of workflow, BoxCast has an edge with their simplicity and integration, which is just what I need.” —Jeff Amato
After the Stream Monkey transition, Jeff quickly noticed BoxCast approached live streaming differently than all of his past providers.
“It’s hands off. I can set up a stream and it’s just there. Whenever I throw data at it, it’s online. I don’t have to hit stop and start — it’s more set it and forget it, which is helpful since we have such a small team and I have to divide my time.
Beyond reliable streaming, Mosaic also uses BoxCast’s API to customize the embedded player on their website. Jeff built a system to periodically display different messages to returning viewers, subtly encouraging them toward in-person connection, which reflects the church’s heart for physical attendance in their community.
BoxCast also saves time for Mosaic after the broadcast ends.
“Honestly, it’s great for me to not have to do a lot of post-processing. I don’t have to record it locally, edit it, re-upload it somewhere else. I can just highlight what I want, embed it, and share the archive right away.”

Mosaic Church is a multisite community of believers based in Winter Garden, Florida, focused on fostering real in-person connection and spiritual growth. Their mission is to disciple people while using technology to help members stay connected when life keeps them away.

More Events Streamed, Less Time Spent Managing Them
“BoxCast has been super valuable for me in terms of time management.” –Jeff Amato
Today, Mosaic Church consistently streams five weekly events: a 9am English gathering, an 11am Spanish stream, an 11am English gathering, a 5pm private archival stream, and a Tuesday morning staff prayer time. On top of that, they regularly broadcast celebrations of life, school graduations, forums, panels, and staff meetings, and now have over 1,000 archived broadcasts in their growing video content library.
Thanks to BoxCast, all of this happens with minimal oversight. The system runs smoothly in the background, freeing Jeff to focus on other technical needs across the church and support the ministries that matter most.

Mosaic Church
A Longtime Team Member With a Lot to Do
For over 20 years, Jeff Amato has served Mosaic Church in nearly every technical role imaginable. From mixing front-of-house while playing bass to overseeing infrastructure and production across campuses, he’s done it all, often without a dedicated video team. Streaming was never intended to be Mosaic’s main outreach tool, but Jeff knew it needed to work reliably in the background while he focused on everything else.
A Dependable System that Saves Time Every Week
Since transitioning to BoxCast, Jeff has built a hands-off, integrated streaming setup that mirrors Mosaic’s philosophy: keep people connected without overcomplicating things. With easy scheduling, streamlined post-production, and powerful API customizations, BoxCast lets Mosaic stream five consistent weekly events (and many more occasional ones) while saving hours of manual work and technical oversight each week.
