BoxCast: You started streaming your events last November. Why did you decide to start? 

Eric Etchison: We'd been streaming with another company for the past three years. But when we decided to use Presto Sports to manage our website, I wanted our fans - in once place - to see Presto's real-time stats alongside the live video. BoxCast was my solution - my research showed that it worked seamlessly with Presto.

Plus, I liked the past experience Mike Donlin (my sales rep) had with college athletics and his knowledge regarding sports information. 

BoxCast: That's great to hear! When evaluating different streaming providers, what made us stand apart from the competition?  

EE: I liked that I could give our fans the option to watch in SD or HD. Also, our administration was excited that the PPV model could give them a return on their investment.

BoxCast: How do you use your BoxCaster? 

EE: We use our BoxCaster wherever we have a hardline connection - home football, men's and women's basketball, volleyball and baseball. I'm hoping to experiment with the wireless streaming option next Fall to broadcast our soccer games. Our administration thinks so highly of our sports broadcasts that they've decided to use BoxCast to broadcast our graduation this May.

BoxCast: How have your viewers reacted?

EE: Our viewership has actually grown about 15% from last season. Streaming has been a key factor in our ability to recruit beyond our region. We're now successfully bringing in student-athletes from Texas, California, Oregon and Florida. Parents enjoy watching and cheering for their favorite Fighting Scot even when they can't be there!

BoxCast: Are there any additional features you hope to see in BoxCast's future? 

EE: I would like to be able to spell out the entire college and opponent's name in the scoreboard overlays. Also, I'd like to import graphic overlays to the corners of the video image, allowing for advertising without using a TriCaster or Wirecast. 

BoxCast: Anything else you'd like to add? 

EE: I'd love to share a story from earlier this year. I was going to stream a volleyball match and had already completed the set-up. During the pre-game warm up, a ball must have hit the camera and dislodged a wire. Before I knew anything was wrong, BoxCast contacted me and we fixed the issue without a problem. BoxCast's customer service has been exceptional!
