Welcome to The Block!

We released The Block to be your all-access monthly newsletter, highlighting the latest and greatest at BoxCast and in the live streaming industry. This month, we're here to share an amazing deal, tell you about our newest update, introduce a team member, and maybe even make you a star.

Stream + Save Like a Pro

Big news: Our top-tier encoder, the Pro, is now only $2,495. That's a $500 price cut! Better yet, through February 20, we're offering an additional $500 off — for a total savings of $1,000!

This is a steal for any broadcaster — whether you already love the Pro and could use an extra, want to upgrade your BoxCaster, or improve your stream reliability by switching from RTMP to our patented BoxCast Flow protocol.

The Pro streams at a high-quality H.265 (HEVC) compression, offers multiple input and output options, boasts a responsive LCD screen, and more.

This deal is for new or current BoxCast customers. Have a friend who's looking to live stream? Be sure to tell them about this deal and fill out a referral form so you can earn an extra $100 credit!

To learn more, reach out to a BoxCast team member in our chat or via email.

Dashboard Updates

Let us be one of the first to let you know: February Dashboard updates are here!

Today, we released a few big updates to the Edit Broadcast page. We encourage you to check it out yourself, but here are some highlights:

  • You can add a new channel without having to exit and go to the Channels tab.
  • Destinations like Facebook and YouTube are color coded, so you can easily identify which outputs are live and connected and which are not.
  • At-a-glance text lets you know how long you have before your broadcast begins.
To test these features and more, go to the Broadcasts tab, then click the Edit button on any broadcast on that page.
Note: These features will only show up in the Edit screen from the main Broadcasts tab for now — they won't show up if you click on the broadcast itself and then hit Edit. We appreciate your patience as we continue to push these updates everywhere in the platform!
As always, feel free to submit any feedback on our Product Portal.

Meet the Team: Q+A with Mindy Worley

Since we spend so much time together every month, we figured we should start to introduce ourselves!

This month, we'd like you to meet Mindy Worley, a technical writer here at BoxCast. You might've seen her name before — Mindy's behind many of the helpful articles in our Support Center, one of our BoxCast Academy instructors, and a regular contributor to this newsletter each month.

Q: How long have you been working in the live streaming industry, Mindy?

A: I've been lucky to be part of the BoxCast team for two years now. Before that, I worked for Stream Monkey (the streaming company BoxCast acquired in 2020) for 5 years. I spent many years prior to that working on a media team at a church in Oklahoma — which is a big reason I'm so passionate about the work I do here at BoxCast.

Q: What's your favorite thing about coming to work every day?

A: I love taking complicated technical terms and procedures, breaking them down, and explaining them so everyone can understand them. (As a child, I always wanted to be a teacher!) Video streaming has become such a vital part of our world — particularly for church ministries, and especially since the pandemic began. It's great to be able to help people with little or no prior technical experience have access to such an important tool.

Q: What’s a subject you could give a 40-minute presentation on with no preparation?

A: I live in Orlando and am a proud theme park expert. I could give you a breakdown of every park ride, show, and snack stand in detail ... that should easily fill 40 minutes!

Q: What (or whom) are you secretly a fan of?

A: I've recently gotten pretty invested in Animal Crossing: New Horizons on the Nintendo Switch.

Want to Be Famous(ish)?

Our team is working on videos highlighting our favorite content creators: you! If you have a broadcast or video you're extra proud of and would like to be featured on our social and YouTube channels (don't worry — we'll give you credit!), email us at community@boxcast.com. We can't wait to hear from you!
